Top Superhero Halloween Costumes This Season
Everybody likes superheroes, right?
The sheer number of superhero movies coming out in the next few years (and the astronomical sums the ones that have come out so far made) would seem to confirm that.
But this isn’t a recent phenomenon, mind you.
It’s always been this way.
All you’d have to do is take a look outside your window on Halloween and the sheer number of children (and adults) wearing superhero Halloween costumes would confirm that for you.
And why not?
Everyone loves superheroes, everyone loves to dress up as superheroes, and superhero costumes are a safe bet.
This year is no different, and there’ll be just as many superhero costumes this year as the years past, if not more. Of course, this year had the distinction of having about a billion superhero movies releasing this year, so choosing a costume might be slightly difficult for you. But that’s what I’m here for!
Read on to find out which superhero costumes are the best bet for a comic book fan this year!
1. Batman
Batman is perhaps the world’s most famous comic character, and that doesn’t seem to change even when it comes to superhero Halloween costumes.
Batman’s has always been a popular costume (especially the classic costume), but with Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice having come out this year and the praise received by Ben Affleck, expect even more Batman costumes on the street his year, especially the Armored Batman Costume.
2. Superman
Batman is rivalled as the world’s greatest superhero only by Superman, and the situation isn’t all that different when it comes to costumes either.
Superman’s red and blue have always been iconic, regardless of the cinematic iteration and that hasn’t changed at all in the years past.
Different Superman costumes from different eras have always been popular, with the modern fans going for Henry Cavill’s costume, and the purists sticking to the comic or Christopher Reeve costumes.
3. Captain America
With Captain America celebrating his 75th anniversary this year, and the critical and commercial smash that Captain America: Civil War proved to be, there will be a glut of Captain America costumes.
Captain America’s overzealous patriotism already made him a fan favorite, but his tremendous screen adaptation has made him relatable and sympathetic and almost a rival to Batman and Superman when it comes to popularity.
Everyone has their favorite Captain America costume, be it the original comic book costume, the one worn in the Avengers, the stealth costume from Captain America: The Winter Soldier or the more armored designs from Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War, and whichever you choose, you’ll be a hit.
4. Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman finally made her big screen debut with this year’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the reaction to Gal Gadot’s performance was nothing short of superlative.
With her debut and upcoming solo film, the hype surrounding Wonder Woman is massive, and you’d want to get your hands on a Wonder Woman costume now before they start selling out everywhere!
There’s a Wonder Woman costume for everyone, whether it’s the New 52 costume, the classic Lynda Carter costume, or the Gal Gadot costume.
5. Spider-Man
Spider-Man returned to our screens this year with Captain America: Civil War in a brand new avatar, and he absolutely swept everyone off their feet.
Instead of the ultra-cool hipster version of The Amazing Spider-Man movies, this Spider-Man harkened back to his high school days, played to dorky perfection by Tom Holland.
This drive for comic accuracy continued with a redesigned costume that looked like the early comic costume, and fans instantly fell in love with it.
That said, Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man costumes are still incredibly cool, whether you prefer the Holland costume or the Garfield one, one thing is certain – Spider-Man will always have one of the coolest costumes around.
Honorable Mentions
The Flash has proved to be a character with a tremendous fan following with his hit show on The CW, and his costume has a nice homemade look, and while you’re waiting for Ezra Miller’s turn in Justice League, this should hold you over nicely.
Iron Man is similarly another hugely popular hero, and with Captain America: Civil War, he got another costume upgrade (with a slight hit to his reputation), but ultimately his costume should prove popular yet again among the fans with its slight redesigns.
The Winter Soldier might be a mixed bag depending on your sympathy for him in Captain America: Civil War, but that doesn’t stop him from having a cool costume.
Aquaman has wisely ditched the orange t-shirt for a Dothraki-esque costume, and the result are in front of your eyes.
Enough said.
