The Evolution of Hiccups Costume in How to Train Your Dragon
Over the past couple of years, How to Train Your Dragon has been a box office hit introducing us to the story of Hiccup a young aspiring dragon slayer and Toothless a young harmless dragon. Both characters go through crazy adventures, take on many foes and expose their audience to evolution of costumes. Seeing the two grow up and develop together in the past two films beautifully displays the special relationship that they share. One special and iconic similarity that Hiccup and Toothless share are that they're both partially crippled. This brought a major change in Hiccup's costume that was amazingly shown in the second film with how he utilized his forging skills to navigate himself on Toothless.
From the first two films, over the course of five years, Hiccup continues to mature and this is clearly shown through Hiccup's costume. From the first to third film, let's see how much Hiccup's costume has developed!

In the first film, Hiccups world was completely different with his father and most of his people having a pure hatred for dragons. Hiccup, who is clearly small in stature, was meant to be trained to kill dragons. One of Hiccup's biggest goals was to prove himself to his father and he thought he had a major opportunity to by slaying a 'night fury', Toothless. This obviously didn't happen as he befriended Toothless, fixed his wing using his blacksmith tools, and soared the sky with his friends to rescue his father from the Red Dragon. Hiccup's costume in the first film was just his simple youth clothing inspired by the Viking culture that he grew up in. Hiccup's costume remained the same throughout the film and didn't see any major changes until the second one.
