Offbeat Halloween Costume Guide
Your Guide to Offbeat Costumes This Halloween Season
It’s hard not to get thrilled about Halloween, whether you’re five or forty-five – there’s something about the candy and costumes filled atmosphere that we just can’t get enough of.
But you know what can be a real dampener?
Imagine getting all decked out to go trick-or-treating in the evening in your newly bought superhero or zombie costume, only to step outside your house and finding half your neighborhood wearing the same thing.
Real bummer, I know.
What can we do then?
It’s simple – pick a funny costume that’s going to stand out from the crowd!
Yes, I know how difficult picking a costume out can be, more so when you’re specifically aiming for a costume that no one else has, and to help you out, I’ve picked out some offbeat costumes that you’re sure to rock in.
I know, I’m nice like that.
1. Robot Man and Woman Costumes
Product IDs left to right: WC53224, WC53223
We all love robots, don’t we? Of course, with how science fiction has evolved, so have robots, but here’s a costume that captures our fascination with robots and serves it up in a simplistic retro design.
Now all you need do is perfect your dance moves, because trust me, with this costume and your robot dance at a Halloween party, there’s no way you’re stopping short of being the next viral YouTube sensation!
2. Tasty Doughnut Costumes
Product IDs left to right: WC52905, WC40637
Food is love, and anyone who says otherwise is just kidding everyone, themselves included.
Why not just show how much you love food by being food?
This doughnut costume sure is the right costume for the job, and if you really want to show your cheeky side, get someone a coffee cup costume and stand next to people in cop costumes (not the actual ones, mind you) for some fun.
3. Don Juan Costume
Product ID: WC38260
If you’re as big of a fan of those Zorro movies as I am, then you’re going to love this costume as much as I do. It’s got enough of the details right to capture the old Spanish aesthetic that literally everyone loves, and the addition of little details like the eye mask and the mini cape only serve to make this costume more intriguing and add an air of mystery.
And to all the players out there – you get the hair and the Van Dyke bead right, and this costume will more than get you a fair return on your investment, if you know what I mean.
4. "The Dog" Costume
Product ID: WC38350
Dogs are God’s gift to mankind. There is absolutely no point in trying to deny it, so let’s just not.
These little fuzzballs give us reasons to smile, so let’s give them a reason to as well!
I mean sure, they won’t be able to comprehend what’s happening, but everyone else will get a kick out of seeing you in this remarkably accurate yet sufficiently ridiculous dog costume.
I know, this list just keeps getting better and better.
5. Bone Daddy Adult Costume
Product ID: WC39307
Now I like a good old fashioned skeleton costume as much as the next person – it’s simple, basic and can be… Bone chilling (bad pun, I know) when done right.
But see, that costume’s been way too overused, and in these cases, you need a costume that riffs on the classic, but maintains its own unique identity.
Like this one!
It is but a simple suit overlaid with a classic design, and paired with snazzy accessories that give it a unique look while not tossing away the familiarity entirely.
As far as creativity goes, boy it sure floats my boat.
6. Airline Captain Costume
Product IDs left to right: WC36822, WC23474
Remember that old Steven Spielberg movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks called Catch Me If You Can? I don’t remember a lot about it now, but I do remember it made me want to be a big shot pilot like Leo in the film (he was a con man with the pilot being a persona but let’s not get bogged down with the details, okay?).
This costume is here for just that!
Well, that and if you want to dress up like pilots, because hey, pilots are cool.
Plus you can wear this to the premiere of Sully too, as a dry run before Halloween!
So, there we have it.
Here are my six picks for the best offbeat costumes this Halloween season.
Pick any one of these costumes and marvel at how different you managed to be from everyone else.
Most lists would probably end at five or go all the way to ten, but hey, offbeat and stuff, right?
Of course, these are my picks, but make sure to browse through Wonder Costumes’ extensive costume selection for more offbeat costumes like these!
