Deadpool: Interesting Facts on the Merc with a Mouth
By Mitch Uppman
Deadpool has been, and will be Marvel’s greatest anti-hero. He is rude, arrogant, cocky and an outright jerk….and this is why we love him. Deadpool has stolen many hearts in his very own film last February and started to trend higher than the sky. Since the film release, the demand for Deadpool costumes has surpassed even Civil War Avenger costumes and Batman v. Superman! Fans know Deadpool for his fourth wall breaks, adult humor, and extreme violence. There are some things that the not so die-hard fans of Deadpool might not know. Deadpool has secrets just like many other Marvel characters, these might just surprise you.
Deadpool Isn’t All That Crazy

Mind you, Deadpool is definitely stranger than most (hallucinations and such). What most people don’t understand is that Deadpool isn’t actually insane. In the comics, Deadpool has three voices in which he talks to himself and the audience reading. He also knows that he is in a comic book. Loki (brother of Thor) confirmed to Deadpool that he was in fact just a comic book character where someone was writing his story. This is interesting because this lets many Deadpool fans believe that not only is Deadpool not insane, he might be the sanest Marvel character created.

Captain America and Deadpool have had their fair amounts of fights for sure but there is no denying the relationship that they hold. Captain America is one of the few Marvel characters that actually worry about Deadpool and his wellbeing. They both were experimented on by the government, and Rogers understands what it’s like to be like Deadpool. Cap is always looking out for Wade making him kind of a father figure in Deadpool’s life.

Ellie Camacho is the daughter of Wade Wilson and Carmelita Camacho. There is no doubt that Deadpool has had his fair share of the ladies but this is much different. Deadpool didn’t realize that Ellie even existed and when he found out, he rescued her from a plot to have her killed. Deadpool later turned her into S.H.I.E.L.D where they watched over her.
Deadpool’s Most Useful Weapon Is His Head

Wade Wilson is considered the hardest Marvel character to take down in a hand to hand fight. Technically speaking, Deadpool murdered the entire Marvel universe, including the creators of Deadpool themselves. What makes him so BA? His head. His head has been referenced to be like a pack of wild ferrets. One of the most deadliest Marvel characters, for example, is Taskmaster (above). Taskmaster has the power to know his opponents next move. This has no meaning to Deadpool as he kicks Taskmaster’s butt every time. Deadpool never has anything in mind and is always making up things on the spot. He even has taken down Galactus just by annoying him. Nothing is more dangerous than a man without a plan.
Deadpool Is Actually “Related” to DC’s Deathstroke

Okay so here is the last, and most important Deadpool fan debate. Is he just a rip-off? Well, you can put it like that if you want but Deadpool creators, Fabian Nicieza and artist/writer Rob Liefeld, both stated that he was more of a parody. They also go on and say that they created Deadpool to secretly be related to Slade because of the extreme similarities. Call it whatever you like, this “rip-off” still kicks butt.
