Costumes You'll See in Miami Beach This Halloween
By Admin
Between Halloween, Florida Supercon and the incomparable nightlife, Miami Beach is one of the best places to witness costuming greatness in South Florida. Every year, thousands of South Floridians flood the busy South Beach streets to either showcase or witness that most elaborate costumes in Miami Beach. We have posted several articles covering the many South Beach events that feature superb cosplay in Miami’s party district but Halloween is a special occasion that draws a unique crowd. While many of the attendees at South Beach’s Halloween parties show off their own creations to impress the spectators, there are always popular costumes seen among the masses. Sexy costumes are huge for example, but what else is to be expected from a place that boasts of hot beaches and a world-class party scene? Funny novelty costumes also get their share of exposure in Miami’s own “city that never sleeps” but mainly because of their over-the-top offbeat ideas.
Miami Beach’s attention-hungry Halloween crowd may be unique and extravagant, but that also means that they are predictable. This makes it easy for us to tell more or less what types of costumes you’ll see in Miami Beach this Halloween. Provocative, hilarious, extravagant and popular themes will be present at every South Beach corner. As a South Floridian (or SoFla tourist), what costume should you wear to a Halloween event in Miami Beach? We have some excellent suggestions to make sure that your costume matches up to the South Beach standard. Behold the hottest costumes you’ll see in South Beach this year.
Women’s Costumes:
Plenty of Miami Beach nightclubs will be having “Ladies’ Night” on Halloween, mainly because that is the only way some of them can guarantee business. Not surprisingly, they hold Halloween costume contests where the sexiest costumes are typically the ones that win. This is no cosplay show; raunch is what it’s all about. Here are some of the risqué costumes you may see South Beach’s women wearing.
Suicide Squad’s Harley Quinn
If Harley Quinn existed in real life (assuming that she doesn’t), she would absolutely frequent Miami Beach. Think about it; Miami Beach is a place full of unique personalities, people in colorful, sexy clothes and a pretty wild party life. Harley Quinn and her puddin’ fit the mold just right; at least the Leto/Robbie combination in Suicide Squad. Well, the real Harley (or Margot Robbie) may not show up, but there will be plenty of incarnations of DC’s villainous sweetheart.
Batman v. Superman’s Wonder Woman
While Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn seems to be DC’s leading lady this year, she has some serious competition in Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. Her rendition of DC’s most famous heroine has the potential to eclipse Harley Quinn, but maybe her minor role in Batman v. Superman was not enough to surpass Margot Robbie’s role in Suicide Squad¬. Next year, however, will be all about Wonder Woman as DC is releasing her full length feature. But that doesn’t mean you won’t see plenty of Wonder Women walking the streets of Miami Beach this season. The shoulderless corset style top and mini-skirt will fit right in with South Beach’s party crowd. .
The Egyptian Cat Goddess
The Egyptian costume theme never seems to get old, no matter how ancient it is. Egyptian costumes are most popular among women looking for an exotic, sexy look without losing the touch of class. The Egyptian cat goddess costume, for example, is one that combines elements of ancient Egyptian fashion with modern day skin-tight clubwear, but it is not as revealing as some of the daring outfits you’ll see in Miami Beach on Halloween. This curve-hugging bodysuit has been very popular in the South Beach party scene; we even featured in a Deco Drive segment as one of South Florida’s most popular sexy costumes for women. .
A Bob Ross Painting!
Bob Ross was a PBS legend in the '80s and '90s. Many of the people that grew up watching him paint beautiful landscapes with majestic ease are now at the perfect age to take part in Miami Beach’s mature nightlife. Surely, there will be some ladies honoring the legend of Bob Ross by wearing one of his paintings as a costume. Because the Bob Ross painting costume is just a tunic that drapes down to the upper thigh, it presents an opportunity for a creative sexy costume that will break necks. .
Sugar Skull Senorita
Mexico’s Day of the Dead (officially called Dia de los Muertos in Spanish) is becoming increasingly popular within the U.S. and the theme is now merging with Halloween. Day of the Dead costumes and accessories are some of the most sought after Halloween wearables in Miami Beach; especially sexy ones like the Sugar Skull Senorita. Slightly revealing but still dressy, the Sugar Skull Senorita makes for an excellent sexy costume that leans toward a more conservative look. .
Men’s Costumes:
So what do Miami Beach’s “peacocking” party males do to get the attention of their counterparts? They dress up in racy and outrageous costumes. Anything that seems like a big cry for attention, because remember, competition is fierce. Men’s costumes can too be sexy in their own way and they will get extra points if they show their sense of humor. Here are some of the costumes that will make great conversation starters, or a t least get you a dance. .
Suicide Squad Joker
Being that Suicide Squad’s Harley Quinn will be one of the most popular costumes you’ll see in Miami Beach, it is no surprise that her Puddin’ follows suit. Jaret Leto’s Joker may look like somewhat of a joke itself but that does not hinder the popularity of the Suicide Squad’s Joker getup. Complete with an awfully gaudy purple trench coat and an undershirt with screen-printed tats, the SQ Joker costume is right at home at Miami Beach’s party nightlife. The neon green Pat Riley style slick back wig puts the seal on one of the most d-baggy incarnations of the Joker to date. .
Good Clean Fun
Not everything associated with costumes in South Beach has to be “dirty.” Check out the Good Clean Fun costume and you will no doubt understand why this may be a Miami Beach favorite this Halloween. This shirtless wonder shows off those pecs and abs you’ve been working so hard to obtain, and that plays especially well on Ocean Drive. Best of all, the Good Clean Fun costume commands attention anywhere you go; and isn’t that what dressing up in Miami Beach is all about? .
Big Baby
A visit to South Beach at night is not complete without a good share of WTF moments to witness. While Miami Beach may have a curfew for minors, you will not be have a hard time finding a baby roaming the streets—a big baby! The Big Baby costume somehow manages to be hilarious, oddly cute and eerie all at the same time. Anyone who has been to South Beach late at night knows a grown up wearing nothing but diapers and a tee isn’t all that strange when you consider all the things that go down at night. .
Turn the Light Switch
Miami Beach is a place where singles can mingle. The South Beach party scene turns Halloween into yet another opportunity for boys and girls—of mature age—to meet their match. But with such a busy environment and so many people to meet, who has time to do any actual mingling? The Turn the Light Switch costume saves you precious time you could be using to meet prospects who are actually interested. All they need to do is flip your switch and the sparks will fly. Not feeling it? Flip the switch back off and move along. Good luck not seeming like a total jerk, but at least some will have the sense of humor to appreciate your wit. .
Shark
This just seems right. Miami Beach is no stranger to sharks and it is highly likely that someone will show up dressed up as one. More than a Halloween costume, a shark outfit is a mascot for South Beach’s beaches. A shark suit is best in its natural habitat—though the cozy nature may not make it the most comfortable garment to wear to a place where the temperature in October is still in the 90s and the humidity factors in to make you feel like you’re in that scene from Total Recall where Arnold’s face is nearly melting off! .
What Else Is Poppin’ This Halloween in Miami Beach?
It almost feels like every night is Halloween night in South Beach if you consider the excessive make-up and elaborate outfits that party-goers wear. And while Miami Beach is quite entertaining on any given night, nothing compares to the rowdy environment of October 31st. Guaranteed, you will see sexy versions of every popular Halloween character, professional uniform and even children’s classics. Witches, cops, mermaids; you name it. These are present in South Beach every year, and 2016 is no exception. .
