By AdminSo, we just received that long awaited e-mail update from Ticketmaster that makes us jump for joy: Disney On Ice is on Tour and coming to our city. We are in Miami, FL., but Disney on Ice has every major city in every state covered. So we thought, why not share some ideas of Disney costumes that make the Disney on Ice experience extra special? Kids absolutely LOVE Disney on Ice and the grownups that accompany them do too—even if they don’t jump for joy. It won’t be long before giddy Disney fans flood our phone lines asking for Disney Princess dresses and Pixar character costumes to wear to these Disney-magic-at-home events that tour the country. We in Miami are getting Disney On Ice: Follow your Heart in September, but there are many other themed shows that tour different parts of the country at different times and they can change year to year. You can see details about each show at the Disney On Ice Website, but based on the theme, you may find different types of costumes better suited for each particular event. Some events feature more fairy tale characters than others, some gravitate more toward Disney Pixar animations and others are just classic Disney shows featuring characters like Mickey and his gang. Plus, every now and then you will be able to witness an entire Disney tale live on the ice. The Lion King, Frozen (which seems quite fitting), Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid are among excellent examples of past themes that have featured only one Tale. You can wear whatever costume you want, but it would probably make perfect sense to opt for costumes that match the theme.

Popular Disney On Ice Costumes
We want to provide you with information about popular outfit options for Disney on Ice shows, but please keep in mind that by the time you read this, the Disney On Ice costumes that we are suggesting here may no longer be available. We will try to update the list and images accordingly, but if you read this long after it’s been posted, please feel free to contact us directly so that we may update you.
The types of outfits and princess dresses that we are suggesting take the following things into consideration: The cool temperature in the arena, the family friendliness of Disney events (no sexy costumes!), and the possible dress code and restrictions by the hosting venue; though you may still want call the venue ahead to be sure before purchasing a costume.
Disney Princess Dress-up
This is probably the most popular type of outfit that you will see at Disney On Ice shows. Despite the debate about Disney princesses as role models, these fairy tale heroines are the reason for Disney’s success and the protagonists of many of the Disney on Ice shows. There are costumes from each princess tale that fit the mold of the perfect attire to wear to these magical ice skating events. Anyone from Snow White to Elsa and everyone in between is welcomed to appear in the audience as portrayed by you or your little one. You will have nothing to envy from the professional costumed ice skaters on the floor.
Costumes of Mickey’s Crew
Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Minnie and of course, Mickey Mouse make up the original team that catapulted Disney into a children’s entertainment powerhouse. That is why they make their appearances at many of the Disney on Ice shows and even have some that are fully dedicated to them. Regardless of who is behind those impressive mascot costumes, most children would give anything be a part of that magical world. You can never go wrong with Mickey Mouse costumes or accessories—like plain old ears and tails—at a Disney On Ice Show.
Disney-Pixar Character Outfits
Pixar has produced some of Disney’s most popular animated films in recent years and for that reason, they constantly make appearances at Disney on Ice shows. Shows featuring characters from Toy Story, Finding Dory, Inside Out, and Cars are currently touring the country, so these are highly recommended Pixar movie costumes for any child or adult attending one of these events.
Everyone Else: Non-Princess, Non-Pixar, Non-Mickey
There are special Disney characters that don’t fall in any of the above categories mainly featured on Disney On Ice shows—Simba, Peter Pan, Aladdin and Quasimodo just to name a few—but they still make appearances alongside of their fellow stars on the ice rink. These characters are just as popular as any princess, Pixar animation or classic Disney icon which is why they take part in many of the Disney On Ice tours. Costumes from these movies may stand out more as they deviate slightly from the ever-trending outfits from Disney’s core themes.
Why Dress Up?
Because—why not? It only makes the experience more exciting for a child. This is the time for little kids get to enjoy a little piece of Disney magic without you having to travel X amount of miles to see Mickey in person. This is an event that doesn’t come around that often, so “making the most of it” means enhancing the experience with anything, from watching a Disney movie in the car on the way to the event (to hype them up) to dressing up in costumes from the stories being featured in the show. For parents, this means you can make up for the times that Disney did not allow you to wear costumes at their theme parks. Disney has strict rules when it comes to costumes worn by adults at the parks, so being able to dress up for Disney On Ice is like redemption.
If you are planning your Disney On Ice trip and wish to dress up for the event, consider some of the outfits posted on this page, and as mentioned earlier, contact us if you need assistance selecting a costume.
