Luau Party Here We Come!
Now that we are in full swing Spring season, spending time outside is literally a breeze. With the hot summer months approaching, why not cool down with friends and throw a fabulous Luau party? Tropical fruits and refreshing drinks with umbrellas inside, grass skirts and Hawaiian costumes, leis and tiki torches. Island songs and a laid-back beach vibe...all this awaits you and your guests at your next Luau party.
Here are a few things you will need to pull-off this splendid party.
Island Decorations: Cover tables with fishing nets, burlap or grass skirts. Here is a great flower skirt decoration that will be perfect to achieve the island vibe. String up lighting like these in bamboo and add coconut candles to the tables for ambience. Achieving an island style feel can be fairly easy. Here is a sweet example of a self serving table set up.
Costumes and Accessories: Tell your guests to dress the part. Suggest Hawaiian Shirts, grass skirts, coconut or seashell tops! Anything island theme will work. Hand out Leis to each one of your guests upon their arrival. Don't forget to be the host and hostess with the mostest and participate in the theme with a Costume of your own.
Food and Drinks: Have plenty of finger foods and fruit to nibble on. If you're good with the grill you can absolutely do a BBQ style Luau. Here is a great recipe for a Hawaiian Burger that is sure to please your guests. You can serve up drinks in Tiki Glasses or Coconut Cups. Don't forget dessert! Here's a crafty cake made in the shape of a Coconut Drink (pretty cool)!
Music: No luau is complete without some tunes. You can go with authentic Hawaiian tunes and really get into the spirit. Also, you can play some Israel "Iz" Kamakawiwo or some classic Don Ho.
