8-Foot Avatar Born at Wondercostumes.com
Wondercostumes.com customer Aaron Thompson used the Halloween Costumes he ordered from our site to launch an epic project to turn himself and his whole family into Na’vi Warriors from the all-time highest grossing film, Avatar. Equipped with six of the Avatar Neytiri Women Costume striped blue bodysuits as well as accessory archery bows and spears, Aaron’s family dove headfirst into a friendly competition to see who could accessorize the most and the best. By molding self-drying white art clay, for example, they created animal claws or teeth to string onto necklaces and adorn headbands.
In addition to making their own skull cap wigs, complete with yarn for the hair and fringed pink felt for the neural tendrils, the Thompsons employed a trick you can use for any mask with eye, nose, or mouth openings that expose your natural skin color. They covered the eyeholes of their handcrafted masks with color-tinted cellophane.
And have you ever felt constrained by the limited sizes available for a particular costume? Tell that to tall male members of the Thompson family, who found a workaround to their Womens Size Large Neytiri Costumes (the biggest size available). They added a loincloth section to add extra fabric (and wiggle room) to the torso. Not to mention the stilts Aaron constructed to give his character awe-inspiring height!
Aaron and his family constructed such impressive Avatar Costumes that they were accosted endlessly to pose in photos when they went to Costume Party and Contest events such as one at Power Plant Live Baltimore (a huge outdoor stage surrounded by restaurants) and another hosted by Baltimore Radio station 98 Rock. They were approached by celebrities at conventions like Baltimore Comic-Con 2013 and Boston Super Megafest 2012, including WWE Wrestler Tatanka, who posted a picture of Aaron’s eight-foot Avatar Costume on his blog. Aaron even got to wear his Avatar Costume in a faculty-produced Harlem Shake video for Havre De Grace High School.
Some people like the convenience of a Costume that includes everything needed to look like a character you love. But others, like Aaron, find joy in the Costumes you can accessorize and make your own. Whether you’re looking for the complete package or the building blocks to do it yourself, wondercostumes.com has it all.
