Top 5 Patriotic Superheroes and their Prideful Costumes
By Mitch Uppman
A true patriotic citizen has to stand for what their country means to them. Patriots have to know the true way of their origins and wear it like a badge. We see patriots fight for our country, volunteer for charities, eat a burger or just plainly kicking butt inside the pages of a comic wearing prideful patriotic costumes. These comic book heroes have shared their stories with readers and are a witness for what it is like to be a true patriotic citizen. While patriotic costumes typically represent the real heroes or figures in American history, fictional comic book superheroes are symbolic of the American spirit as well. In celebration of 4th of July, we have come up with the top five patriotic comic book superheroes and their iconic America themed suits.
5. Iron Patriot (Marvel Comics)

Iron Patriot isn't so much a character than it is an armor suit. The Iron Patriot armor has had its fair share of fights and even is considered as one of Tony Stark's greatest suits. In the film Iron Man 2, Colonel Rhodes takes over the suit to show Americans that the government is fighting for the people. The suit sports an American looking feel with its shining blue and red trim. This translation from the comics felt perfect because the suit is meant to stand for the American people. The Iron Patriot suit was a symbol of peace through war, and Americans can't get enough of this Stark technology. This makes the Iron Patriot costume one of the most celebrated patriotic costumes to commemorate our independence day on the 4th of July.
4. Miss America (DC Comics)

Miss America is the pinnacle of American patriotism and beyond her name, her choice of costume speaks for itself. This gal had a dream that the Statue of Liberty gave her powers to fight for her country. To her amazement; she actually gained powers in real life. Miss America might not be well known but she is known for her ultimate loyalty to her country. She has fought along the likeness of Uncle Sam (just wait for it), and as part of the Justice League. After possessing the all American-feel, Miss America created a stunning American superhero costume. She created a red and white skirt, completed with a blue cape and mask. She can fight for my country anytime.
3. Uncle Sam (DC Comics)

This list just keeps on getting better. Uncle Sam is the spirit of a revolutionary war soldier come back to life in a new form. His main goal is to appear whenever his country needs him the most. Uncle Sam is a spirit that clings onto an American Patriot and gains the abilities other normal men don't have. Our favorite uncle comes straight from the military poster asking if YOU are ready to do what needs to be done. Sam always arrives in his classic white star top hat and presidential gown that mimics the traditional Uncle Sam poster we are all so familiar with. He “wants YOU” to wear his patriotic superhero costume this July 4th.
2. Superman (DC Comics)

Although Supes isn't from America he definitely fights like he his. Superman has taken the mantle of greatest superhero of all time. He has almost every power imaginable and he chose to stick with the American way. While his costume does not exactly match the American flag, he makes up for it by pledging allegiance to the red white and blue and recognizing Smallville, Kansas as his hometown—regardless of his true origins. This big, bad, teddy bear will do anything for this country, and who can stop him when he is wearing the tight blue and red. Nothing can stop this mighty man in a fight...besides maybe Batman (definitely Batman).
1. Captain America

Didn't expect this one did you? Now let's all pretend that Steve Rogers never ever said "Hail Hydra" and he is truly the superhero we all know and love. Captain America is the first super soldier and first Avenger to fight mainly for his country. He has powers unlike any other and even smacked old Adolf on the lip. This super awesome patriot takes the first spot for his dedication to his country and his awesome tights. Just look at him. He is quite literally wearing the American flag in the form of a patriotic costume. You can't get more patriotic than that.
